When St. John’s senior Alonzo Ruffin Jr. crossed the finish line first in the last leg of the 800-meter relay race at the Friends of Indoor Track Invitational, a lot of people in attendance at the Prince George’s Sports & Learning Center in Landover were surprised. Those not caught off guard by the outcome were the four Cadets on the relay team — Ruffin, sophomore Eric Harrison, junior Omar Garcia and freshman Nicholas Eggleston. Even though the race featured favorites T.C. Williams, led by junior brothers Noah Lyles and Josephus Lyles, it was the St. John’s group that won in 1 minute 32.06 seconds. Read full article >>
